I'm Katie, a cosplayer and costume maker who has been crafting my own costumes, wigs, and props (if I absolutely have to) since 2004.
By day, I work in the software industry and live in Atlanta with my husband of almost 2 decades. Cosplay is not my full-time job, but it sure is my full-time hobby.

I first learned about cosplay in the year 2000 as a baby weab in Alabama by stumbling across a "how to style your hair like Sailor Moon" tutorial online. I quickly realized folks didn't just stop at styling their hair like Sailor Moon, and made full blown costumes that they wore at anime cons. Fast forward a few years, and I convinced my mom to drive me 6 hours to meet some online friends at Anime Weekend Atlanta 2004 with my first homemade costume: Haruko from Fooly Cooly (FLCL).

After falling deeply in love with the craft of costume creation, I actually found myself considering a career in costuming as a profession. When a semester as a Graphic Design major left me feeling bored, my mom convinced me to switch my major to Theatre, where I could pursue a degree in Costuming and Makeup Design. Although my industry pursuit ended after graduation when I decided I preferred the stability and benefits of an office job, I have no regrets about my "degree in cosplay," as I affectionately call it. Miraculously, I still made my way into STEM by being as nerdy as I am artistic.
